Everything Is Canon: Sisters Of The Snake

On this new episode of Everything is Canon, Steve talks to the powerhouse sister writing team of Sarena and Sasha Nanua all about their great new book, Sisters of the Snake, which is being described as “Deadly magic, hidden temples, and dark prophecies: Sisters of the Snake is an action-packed, immersive fantasy that will thrill fans of The Crown’s Game and The Tiger at Midnight.

Here’s the summary…

A lost princess. A dark puppet master. And a race against time—before all is lost.

Princess Rani longs for a chance to escape her gilded cage and prove herself. Ria is a street urchin, stealing just to keep herself alive.

When these two lives collide, everything turns on its head: because Ria and Rani, orphan and royal, are unmistakably identical.

A deal is struck to switch places—but danger lurks in both worlds, and to save their home, thief and princess must work together. Or watch it all fall into ruin.

While all of that is certainly true, Sisters of the Snake, the first book in a duology, also takes a tired “Swap Roles” trope and gives it a much-needed boost of representation that will attack all five of your senses. With a great top-to-bottom cast, solid world-building, and a wonderful mystery element, Sisters of the Snake while perhaps familiar in some ways, isn’t your typical story at all.

We talk about how this book has one of the best covers of the year, their unique writing situation, favorite characters, Sisters of the Snake of course, and much, much more.
