The Force Awakens Merchandising & Launch Date Revealed?

Perhaps the only thing more exciting (especially for collectors) than a new Star Wars movie on the horizon, are the new toys that will be accompanying the film.  A couple days ago, RebelScum got the scoop on the line-up of The Force Awakens toys that will be launching later this year.  While they’re not terribly revealing (not even using the names of characters we know), and stick with the normal stuff we’re used to, like typical action figures and vehicle accessories, but there are some neat reveals too.  Mostly, it looks like MicroMachines will be making a return!  Check out the list:

The Black Series mask and vehicles sound incredibly interesting as these are products we don’t normally have in this line so far (unless you count the Speeder Bikes), and could provide some very awesome collectibles for fans…though likely pricey.  Personally, I’m really excited about MicroMachines making a return, as it’s something fans haven’t seen in a very long time, but were a lot of fun to pick up and play with.

Obviously this is a lot of stuff here and we’re all eager to see it.  Sadly, however, Hasbro has made it clear via a press release that NO The Force Awakens products will be shown off at this year’s New York Toy Fair, as many people had assumed.  The good news, though, is that we may not have to wait as long as we thought to get our hands on some of these!  Jedi News is reporting that they’ve heard from a reliable source that merchandise on the new Star Wars movie will be hitting shelves on September 4th of this year.

Consider the film is slated to hit in December, that’s a little earlier than expected (I had guessed about October), but I’m sure as hell not going to complain about it, and it’s in a timeframe that’s entirely believable.  I don’t see why this report wouldn’t turn out to be accurate, though being that early makes it more curious that Hasbro is keeping them underwraps for so long.

2015 is going to bring a LOT of Star Wars goodness our way and these toys are going to be hot commodities to be sure for eager new fans and long-time collectors as well.  What do you think about these upcoming figures?
