Apparently Command & Conquer has reached it’s 17th anniversary and it makes me feel way too old. But after 17 years and 17 games, EA has decided the best way to celebrate is by giving fans all of those games in one complete package.
I’ve talked at length about my love of Command & Conquer, seeing as how the RTS genre is my favorite and it’s the first PC game I ever got my hands on all those years ago. Normally a 17th anniversary isn’t a cause for big celebration (normally they go by decades for such things) but seeing as how the anniversary number coincides directly with the number of games released in the franchise, it makes a certain sense.
Coming out this fall (October) EA is releasing the ultimate collection, combing all the games for only $49.95. On top of that, it’s giving you access to the BETA for the upcoming C&C release. They’ve been updated for the new systems, which is awesome seeing as how I love playing the original Red Alert still, and will be available in stores and on Origin for download. Here’s the press release for more details:

The Command & Conquer real-time strategy series has broken new ground in the genre over the last 17 years and 17 games by combining fast, fluid and fun action with cerebral and strategic gameplay. The franchise has also recently launched the browser-based, free-to-play Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances (http://TiberiumAlliances.com), which recently surpassed over one million registered players. Up next for fans is the new free-to-play game and platform, Command & Conquer. Coming in 2013, Command & Conquer will be an online destination for fans of the franchise and will deliver a high-quality, AAA real-time strategy experience, with high octane action and amazing visuals powered by Frostbite 2.
I hate to say that even though I’ve bought all the other collections they’ve released…I’m probably going to get this one too. How about you guys?
