It’s pretty easy to write-up Animal Instincts as a quickly done tie-in that’s only meant to sell toys (from the new line also referred to as Batman Unlimited), featuring a bunch of costume changes to help push sales...But that’s not really the case. It’s a solid animated movie, that has enough action to keep both parents and kids entertained.
Sadly, the film is lacking in some areas that keep it from being a great film. As it stands, it’s definitely fun, and I imagine the kiddos wanting to watch it a few times, but it ultimately falls short of what it could have been. For what it is, it’s still worth a pick-up, just don’t go in expecting a high concept plot and deep characters.
