Phantom Thread
Overview
Phantom Thread stars Vicky Krieps. Oh, and Daniel Day-Lewis, in ostensibly his final role, too. And, oy, this is a Paul Thomas Anderson film, by the way, oh, a most personal one; for the first time he’s photographed his own film, see? The headlines read “Swan Song”, but they should scream “Public Service Announcement! Explosion! Emergence! Instant Star!”. For Vicky Krieps upends all that fluff!
Yes, the contemporary American Maestro P.T Anderson and his reunion with the oscar conglomerated Day-Lewis is upended cotton balls, lint between toes to the explosions that ripple when Vicky Krieps siphons our hearts, minds, and eyes to the perimeter at which light meets the screen. Yes, the best parting gift from Day-Lewis is to let a new star ascend, rip the floor beneath him, and hijack the entire Hellenistic enterprise from the opening shot to the last.
Vicky Krieps is a revelation and, sure, the rest is great too.
