It's not a bird. It’s not a plane. It’s the Incredibles 2, and our superhero family is back after 14 years of many of us waiting for a sequel. After all this time does the Parr family still have what it takes to wow the audience? Of course, they do! Are you kidding me it’s the Incredibles! So, let’s check out what’s up with this film below.

Even though more than a decade has passed since the first movie, Incredibles 2 picks up right when The Underminer attacks the city. Soon after this encounter Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone are approached by Communications tycoon Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk) and his sister Evelyn (Catherine Keener) who is looking to fund them to bring heroes back into the mainstream and make being a super-hero a legal thing again. Bob is overjoyed at this idea and is all in for the deal except the person they want is his wife, Elastigirl. This is mainly due to the fact that Bob is pretty a physical hero and when he stops a criminal there’s usually a lot of damage in his wake. Their new benefactor feels that Elastigirl would be a financially better choice when it comes to city damages and taxpayer money.

incredibles 2 review 700x350

So taking a cue from the first movie we flip the roles of mom and dad as Helen goes off to fight crime and make the world a better place for super powered people while Bob has to stay at home and take care of the kids and Jack-Jack who he soon discovers has superpowers. The movie heavily focuses on Elastigirl and her job of tracking down the new villain, Screenslaver. This new baddie can take control of your mind thru any screen you look at, and you quickly notice how serious and deadly Screenslaver is.  Now even though we get the meat of the story with Helen, Robert does play his part in this movie as he tries to get by day to day having to deal with a daughter who having boy issues, issues Bob has caused! Helping Dash in school while trying to keep up with his rebellious spirit and finding out that Jack-Jack is developing superpowers (A LOT of them).

Jack-Jack easily steals the scene when he starts using his powers and gets into a heated battle with a Raccoon. Bob soon visits that wacky fashion designer, Edna Mode. We learn that Edna is angry with the Parr family since she was not consulted to make Elastigirl’s new uniform but quickly gets over this once she sees Jack-Jack has powers and finds a new challenge in the baby.

incredibles 21

I know that when the first trailer was released some people were less than happy that Mr. Incredible takes on a Mr. Mom role this time around, but I was more than OK with it.  His scenes with Edna, the baby, Violet, Dash, and even with his best friend Frozone will leave you laughing. Combine that with a pretty cool villain and decent storyline with Elastigirl and you’ve got the makings of a hit summer flick. As far as I’m concerned this movie is just as good as the original and I hope that this time we don’t have to wait another 14 years to see The Incredibles 3!

Performance (Acting)
Well, it was worth the wait. the Incredibles 2 gave me all the laughs I needed with a pretty good story based mostly around Elastigirl this time around. Jack-Jack was great in almost every scene he was in. The villain was great and I really felt just how dangerous the bad guy was, more so than I did with Syndrome even though he had quite an impressive body count for the first movie. However, I was able to figure out who the villain was in no time. It didn't spoil the movie for me, I just found that to be the most predictable part of the movie. overall I enjoyed the heck outta this movie and really hope I don't have to wait as long for part 3.
