It was a rather interesting weekend for box office as several studios took many risks. You would think its an off weekend that isn't full of much interest. Due to the fact Green Lantern was the only big budget release still counting numbers I would usually agree? However that wasn't the case.
The Blackest Night is upon us! Cower and tremble, for there is no one to save us. Director Martin Campbell has birthed a twisted and deformed child, stillborn yet a deadly threat to any siblings still gestating in the womb. Not only has a potentially great franchise been killed before it was even given a chance to live, but Green Lantern has done what every super-villain in the pantheon has been attempting for the last eight decades: it has killed the super-heroes.
When it comes to superhero movies, nothing is more important than the origin story. It sets up not just the character, but the tone and future plot points of the franchise to come (or in some cases, the movie itself). If you botch this, then you’ve already botched the entire franchise potential (as seen from such classics as Daredevil or Punisher). And for a movie like this week’s Green Lantern, first impressions are everything. If they don’t like the first outing, why would audiences come back for a second? Green Lantern needs to nail its origin story if it hopes to become the next big superhero franchise. Here are eight other origin stories that Green Lantern should try to emulate if it wants to hit its mark.

Warner Bros has released the second full trailer for Green Lantern (which is to be attached to Thor this weekend) and gives us tons of new footage to pour over. Showcasing the secondary characters more than Hal Jordan, this trailer showcases a far deeper story and incredible characters.

Warner Brothers is apparently doing their best to make up for the severe lack of Green Lantern advertising. Riding the wave of acclaim from their WonderCon footage, they quickly released two TV-spots, and today, they've supplied us with some high-res looks at the full Green Lantern costume, giving us our best look yet at the suit, and the new CGI they're bringing to it.
