As has been the case with all of Peter Jackson's films (especially where Middle-Earth is concerned), the previous The Hobbit film, The Desolation of Smaug is getting an extended edition. Warner Bros. have now announced the details on the upcoming blu-ray, which includes 25 minutes of extra footage, and you'll be able to get it in your hands just in time for the final film in the trilogy. Nowadays, with major advances in technology CGI is playing a huge role in the movie making industry. Of course sometimes creators can go a little too far with CGI making the realistic looking aliens or monsters not so realistic looking and instead creepy or annoying (see Jar Jar Binks) but when they get it right it is nearly perfect.
Peter Jackson's final endeavor into Middle-Earth with the third Hobbit film, The Battle of Five Armies, is set to hit theaters this December, but so far we've seen very little from the film. Even back when the series was originally two films, it's been titled There and Back Again, a reference to Tolkien's original tale. Turns out the rumors were true (even if they reported on the wrong title) and Peter Jackson has announced the film will now be called The Battle of Five Armies.
This past weekend at the holiday The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug managed to once again hold onto the number one spot, making it only the second film this year to be able to hold on to it for three weekends in a row.
