Looks like Sony is at long last getting serious about making the long-gestating Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation. We know they were working on it, with Avi Arad handling the producing duties, but aside from that information (given a while ago) there's not been much of an update. Now however, things are getting serious, as Sony is currently in talks with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings of Summer) to helm the film.

Sony Pictures has been trying to bring Naughty Dog's Uncharted video game franchise to the big screen for a long time. It once had a release date and even a director, but after a bunch of fan outcry over the direction David O. Russell was planning on taking the story (which essentially amounted to it NOT being Uncharted at all), that director departed and the movie was put on the back burner. Now, however, it looks like Sony is finally getting serious about it, as they're now in negotiations with Director Seth Gordon to helm the film.
Animation in video games is getting so great that it gives Pixar a run for their money. So what better way to push the concept forward than to have them branch off into movies? Well that is what is happening as Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank, among other titles, head in that direction.
