Disney has made it clear that they see a bright future with Star Wars. On top of the sequel trilogy, they are also going to be releasing stand-alone movies to add to the vast galaxy far, far away. Because of this, there are a wide variety of characters who could be brought to the big screen, and some fans hope this will include some of the more popular people from the books. Star Wars is known for some of the most iconic villains around, and the same goes for the book series; so I’ve compiled a list of book villains who deserve some love on the big screen at some point.
Last week came the bombshell announcement about Disney buying Lucasfilm and that more Star Wars movies were on the way. The internet promptly exploded with the news, and that's pretty much all anyone's talked about this week. As a diehard fan of Star Wars, it'd be easy for me to jump on the bandwagon, say I'm incredibly excited and leave it at that. However, I feel it's necessary for me to explain exactly why I'm excited about Disney acquiring Lucasfilm and the future of Star Wars.
Thirty-Five years ago today, a little film called Star Wars (remember this was before the title changed to A New Hope) released and had an undeniable impact on cinema and pop culture forever. While a lot has changed in the Star Wars universe over those three and a half decades, it's something I continue to enjoy, even though a lot of fans have given up. I feel the negativity is unfair and I'm here to try and explain why Star Wars is still going strong for me, and why the changes that have been made aren't as terrible as many think.
