George Lucas’ Star Wars Prequels did a lot of things for the special effects industry, being among the first films to feature thousands of digitally enhanced shots, while also introducing the idea of the first CG supporting cast members.  But for all the good they did for the industry in moving VFX forward, many fans have decried the Prequels’ use of computer images throughout the trilogy.  Today, with our look at CGI in movies, I’m taking a look at why the Prequels; use of CG hasn’t sat well with people and caused so much uproar.

This morning saw the release of the first trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, giving eager fans (like myself) the chance to finally see Caesar once again in motion.  Earlier in the year, the first still shot from the film released and we saw it once again in this morning's trailer.  While people complained about the VFX's in that initial screen shot, today's trailer showed the evolution of the movie's VFX.  Come inside to check out a side-by-side comparison to see exactly how much progress they've made in the last few months.

Legendary VFX Master Ray Harryhausen Passes Away at 92
