You never know exactly what kind of new trailers you’ll get during Sony’s State of Play address. Some years you get crazy news about a massive new God of War game, some years exist to announce the latest in the RPG staple Final Fantasy series, and sometimes…
Sometimes you get games like Baby Steps.
This is a title that you’re simply just going to have to see to believe. I don’t think any words I have can properly encompass the experience that you can share with me and everyone else who watched the State of Play this year, simply by checking it out on YouTube or hanging on right here:
Do you ever just feel burdened with knowledge? Like, can you ever just sense the actual weight of a thing you have experienced? As if you knew that, upon experiencing it, you could never be the same person you were before? Anyway, enjoy Baby Steps.
Jokes aside, there is something strangely captivating in the way this poor man traipses around the environment in the most pertinent and relatable quest of all time – to find a bathroom. Who among us hasn’t been yearning for a game where you explore a verdant countryside in search of the greatest relief, mere moments after somehow only just now learning to walk as a full-grown adult?
While likely a game that is going to be primarily built as a source of content for raging streamers, I can’t help but be at least mildly curious about this game’s future. It’s not going to be for everyone, but with the now-legendary Bennett Foddy behind the wheel and veteran publishers Devolver Digital in the background, there’s no doubt going to be a fervent fanbase for it once it arrives.
Baby Steps releases September 8, 2025, for the Playstation 5 and PC via Steam.
