Chef RPG 0.8 Flavors Update Patch Notes

Research Overhaul

Cooking research has been overhauled and plays a bigger role in the main gameplay loop. In addition to Specialized research trees unlocked through Skills, a Standard research tree will become available in the middle of Act 1. The new research minigame involves meeting specific flavor requirements, by mixing different ingredients. Every ingredient possess a unique flavor set. Store them in the house refrigerator to use them. Research is still an optional part of the game, but provides reliable way to unlock new recipes in the early and mid game.

  • Previous research facilities and progress remain.

  • New standard research tree (no skill or construction required)

  • Standard research available from player home.

  • 84 new research nodes rewarding recipes and blueprints.

  • 8 new unique recipes (4 Epic, 4 Legendary) only unlocked from standard research tree.

  • Dish enhancement (adding ingredients) has not changed.

Player Home Overhaul

The player home has been redesigned. Now, your player home will be automatically available after completing the Le Sequoia’s Soft Opening. Previous purchases and upgrades will count towards expansions to your player home. (Purchased home = Upgrade 1, Upgraded home = Upgrade 2). Upgraded player homes are now much larger than before, so you will have plenty more room to decorate! If you have not completed Soft opening yet, new cutscenes will be available that introduce the player home.

  • Player home location has been moved to the left side of Le Sequoia, closer to the greenhouse.

  • Standard research facility is available inside your home.

  • Specialized research facilities (BBQ, Seafood etc.) have been combined into the player home. If you construct special research facilities, they will become extensions of your home.

  • If you have previously purchased a home, furniture items in your house will be returned to your storage.

  • If you have previously constructed research facilities, items in the refrigerators will be combined into the larger one, inside the new home.

  • Trapdoor to the Maintenance Room can now be connected to the home.

New Ingredient Makers

Chocolate Maker and Soup Vat blueprints are now unlocked via the new standard research tree. Previously, they were obtained as random rewards, and required luck to acquire. Two new makers have been added : Cheese Maker and Cream Churner. These new machines are also unlocked through research. Making Cream and Cheese requires Milk, which is a new consumable item (not ingredient) that can be purchased from various shops and vending machines.

Dish Flavors & Temperature

Dishes now contain new qualities : Flavors and Temperature. Depending on what ingredients are used in a dish, the flavor values will change. Currently, these are only used for certain quests. This system will be expanded upon in future updates.

Sea Traders

Various trading vessels are arriving in White Ash Harbor! Currently, these ships have a fixed schedule and are available from the start of the game.

Tuesday – Vegi Seller

Wednesday – Junk Seller

Saturday & Sunday – SS. Ambrose – Large trading vessel. Contains a furniture store with new furniture items, seed seller, ingredients seller, and rare items shop.

New Character – Sahim

A new romanceable character – Sahim has arrived! You can find him aboard the SS. Ambrose, which sails into White Ash Harbor on weekends.

Note – The romance system is not full developed. It will likely undergo an overhaul when we launch the 1.0 version of the game, with more romance features and dialogues.\
