Elder Scrolls Online is getting some major updates in 2026

Since its release in April 2014, Elder Scrolls Online has conquered the hearts of millions with the fight for Tamriel’s fate. Over the years, the game has evolved with additional content and DLCs. However, in a turn of events, the team behind this beloved game claimed last year to be moving away from chapters and DLCs in favor of seasons.

Seasons are expected to bring new zones, classes, storylines, and quality-of-life updates. Each season offers a unique 3-month experience. These season updates will be free to all players with optional paid upgrade paths for those wanting even more from the season.

Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk is set to run from April 2, 2026, to July 8, 2026. Bringing with it a brand new event zone with The Night Market, as well as a new area in the Oblivion realm that players can enjoy for seven weeks.

Players will have the opportunity to choose from three factions where they can pledge their loyalties and enter PvE challenging encounters. This update will be full of new stories, NPCs, quests, and even an in- game home you can earn.

Even though the events are time-sensitive, event zones are intended to return in future season releases, allowing players to choose different factions and experience the events in a whole new way.

The team has been hard at work not only adding new content to the game but also building a dedicated team focused mainly on quality-of-life fixes that have long plagued the Elder Scrolls Online community. So far, some of the improvements we can expect include the ability to respec Skills and Attributes directly from the UI at no cost, faster training for Riding skills, increased furnishing limits for at least half of the game’s player houses, and a combat and class refresh.
