MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, the highly anticipated 2D action-adventure beat ’em up game set in the Marvel Universe, has finally revealed its official release date with a brand new trailer, along with the two final additions to its 15-hero roster.
The Invincible Iron Man and Jean Grey/Phoenix will be joining the super squad, making up the game’s already packed selection of Marvel Icons. These new heroes will be soaring onto console and PC officially on December 1st, a Marvel-ous early holiday gift for fans.
But those aren’t the only bits of new info from the exciting trailer, and eagle-eyed fans will have spotted a host of details from across the Marvel Universe that we’re excited to break down here.
Where’s My Super-Suit?
The colourful spandex of our favourite heroes is half the reason we love them, and every superhero game means an opportunity to see new interpretations of decades of artist renditions of the most iconic characters.
So far, Cosmic Invasion hasn’t had an awful lot of information about the varying looks we’ll see in the game, but this latest trailer gave us a sneak peek at some of the outfits we can expect, including Wolverine’s classic yellow and blue, most recently seen in X-Men ’97, and the Superior Iron Man armour. Not to mention several fun colour swaps like a black Captain America suit and a purple look for Venom.
Let The Games Begin
And what’s any hero without their rogues’ gallery of scary, goofy, and bizarre villains? The trailer included some artistic highlights of the various villains appearing in the game, including Sauron, MODOK, Master Mould, and Venom in a potential boss fight before he joins the team’s roster.
Don’t I Know You?
As always, it wouldn’t be Marvel without a whole bunch of Easter Eggs teasing the wider universe and perhaps some unconfirmed character appearances upon the game’s release. Game stages seem to include Klyntar, the homeworld of the symbiotes. Could this mean an appearance from the King in Black himself, Knull? Eagle-eyed Marvel Rivals fans might also spot a certain aquatic creature in what is likely to be the Collector’s Collection.
With the visual flair of the 90’s beat ’em up and the stunning designs of classic Marvel comics characters, Cosmic Invasion is shaping up to be an incredible love letter to the superhero universe. Whether you’re flinging Cap’s shield, summoning Storm’s lightning, or unsheathing Wolverine’s claws, every Marvel fan should be excited for this new addition to Marvel Games.
