As promised, The Game Awards brought the reveal for the next Total War game, which plunges players into the Warhammer 40K universe.
As rumored, Warhammer 40K is the focus of the next game in the beloved Total War franchise. David Harbour took the stage during The Game Awards to reveal the first look at the new game (in which he plays a role) with a stunning cinematic trailer:
Experience the brutal fusion of galactic strategy and grimdark warfare in Total War: Warhammer 40,000. Take command of iconic factions, customise your war machine, and engage in devastating battles as you carve a bloody warpath across the stars.
For the first time, Total War steps into the far future, bringing its signature blend of strategic depth and cinematic warfare to the brutal, battle-scarred galaxy of Warhammer 40,000. Set within a vast galactic sandbox, players will forge a warpath across the stars, bending the galaxy to their will as they crusade through an age of relentless war and conquest.
The game sets out on an ambitious journey to create the ultimate strategy experience for the Warhammer 40,000 universe – one that will grow over time into a sprawling galactic battlefield, packed with iconic heroes, fearsome war machines, and richly-realized worlds.
Key Features:
Command Four Iconic Factions: Lead campaigns across the galaxy with the Space Marines, Astra Militarum, Orks, and Aeldari, each offering a radically distinct playstyle across campaign and battle. Whether you favour tactical precision, brute force, barbaric aggression, or psychic finesse, your choice shapes every moment of war.
Wage War On A Galactic Scale: Crusade across a galactic sandbox – capturing planets, upgrading fleets, and managing your war economy as you carve a path to dominance. Conquer worlds, bombard enemies from orbit, and command cinematic real-time battles over planetary strongholds. And when all else fails… unleash apocalyptic weaponry to eradicate entire planets!
Engage In Devastating Combat: Command armies in brutal tactical battles across war-torn worlds with destructible terrain and diverse biomes. Deploy elite squads, devastating war machines, and unleash powerful strategic abilities that reshape the battlefield.
Customise Your War Machine: For the first time in Total War, forge an army that’s truly your own. Shape every detail from the faction’s title, heraldry, iconography and arcane wargear. Define their traits, sharpen their tactics, and unleash a signature style of destruction that leaves your mark upon the galaxy.
These features offer just a preview of what’s to come, with even more exciting details set to be unveiled throughout the marketing campaign.
Warhammer 40K is obviously perfect for the RTS/strategy genre, and who better than Creative Assembly and the Total War team to do it?
No release timing just yet, but Total War: Warhammer 40K is in development for PCs, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
