Capcom had their chance for the spotlight at Gamescom Opening Night Live’s highly-anticipated showcase.
We got a look at Resident Evil Requiem, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and a melding of two cult franchises: New Monster Hunter Wilds x FINAL FANTASY XIV Online with a new collab.
Here’s everything we learned:
Resident Evil Requiem
We got an extended glimpse at at Resident Evil Requiem, which takes place 30 years after the outbreak in Raccoon City. The game is set to release on February 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, weeks before the beloved franchise celebrates its own 30th anniversary.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Gamers got another look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword and a deep dive into the Genma Experiments, along with a look at the archery and dual-edged blade wielding combat mechanics.
We got to meet some of Dokyo’s new Genma, including:
- Greater Nue: A ferocious, Chimeric beast that can harness the power of lightning.
- Kogashira: Humans warped by parasitic Genma that create poisonous clouds of Malice.
- Chijiko: A grotesque mass of interwoven human faces with far-reaching tentacles.
And we learned more about protagonist Musashi Miyamoto and his powers that includes the classic Issen and Soul Absorption abilities, along with mechanics like deflect (including projectiles), parry, and the Blazing State temporary offensive buff that is triggered by landing multiple parries that also generates Blue Souls fueling special attacks using Oni Power.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds x FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
Not only did learn about a crossover between Monster Hunter Wilds x FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, we also learned that Capcom is holding the inaugural Monster Hunter Wilds US Championship at TwitchCon on October 17.
The top six teams will battle for first place live from the Capcom booth at TwitchCon.
In the announcement, we learned that Monster Hunter Wilds players will get the chance to see Final Fantasy creatures in the game, including the iconic Chocobos and Catuars in the Forbidden Lands, and the robotic superboss Omega Planetes in a new narrative quest.
