The Dragon of Dojima Sees Double: Yakuza 3 Kiwami & New Spinoff Release Announcement

Today, during their RGG Summit 2025 livestream event, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the creators of the fan favorite Yakuza: Like a Dragon series, managed to swerve expectations by announcing an expected remake alongside with something nobody saw coming: an entirely new game to go along with it.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 will be the latest in RGG Studios’ efforts to update the original games in the series more in line with the later brawlers, but this time around, the game comes packaged with Dark Ties: a completely separate side-game, built in the same engine, that sees the player assume the role of Yakuza 3 antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. You can check out the trailer on YouTube or right here:

This narrative-heavy double-feature features both Kazuma Kiryu and Yoshitaka Mine struggling in their own personal dealings with Japanese organized crime, the lengths they’ll go to see their dreams achieves, and how the paths they take ultimately come to clash. Like all of the Kiwami updates, Yakuza Kiwami 3 will feature updated combat mechanics, including two major fighting styles. Dark Ties, meanwhile, sports some new mechanics to go with its new protagonist, including a new boxing-based combat system with a dark twist.

Fans of the series can look forward to these games releasing as a two-fer early next year, with a Digital Deluxe edition also releasing for players to pick up to score some DLC content, including outfits and customization options for your characters’ flip phone and the Ryukyu Gal Gang side mode.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will release on February 12, 2026 for the Playstation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
