The Witcher 4 – New Cinematic and Gameplay Footage Revealed

Thanks to this year’s State of Unreal presentation, we have even more footage of CD Projekt’s next major release, The Witcher IV. Not only do we get to see the first actual gameplay footage of this highly-anticipated adventure, but it also starts off with a dynamic new cinematic cutscene that hearkens back to the Witchers of old with a classic monster attack. You can watch a merchant traveling crew have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day on YouTube or right here if you wish:

The cinematic graphics look incredible and the scene itself is a chilling reminder of the level of sheer menace that haunts the world of The Witcher when the sun goes down. Although this video ends abruptly, it is followed up with the much longer gameplay video:

Bear in mind that this is from a tech presentation as opposed to a more consumer-focused ordeal, so the focus of and conversation in the video are geared heavily towards showing off exactly what the latest Unreal Engine is capable of, which means you can expect a lot of tech-speak. There’s sadly also no combat shown off in this video, which is probably to be expected. With neither a solid release date nor expectations for the game to be out before 2027, it’s likely that they’re waiting until they have a solid build before showing off something as anticipated as combat controls.

All in all, though, the game looks phenomenal. The graphics are top-notch and the beauty of the settings and ambient chatter of the bustling marketplace shown off in the tech demo gives me a lot of hope for what’s to come when this game actually releases.

The Witcher IV does not currently have a set release date nor any confirmed platforms, but from the tech demo we can at least assume Playstation 5, and likely PC.
