The ever-snarking, pants-refusing bad boy feline of 90s platformers, Bubsy the Bobcat, has been experiencing an unprecedented revival of late, and that train just keeps on rolling with the latest reveal on Thursday: His newest adventure, Bubsy 4D, has officially received a release date and will be pouncing into our lives on May 22.
This will be Bubsy’s first sojourn in many years, up to thirty depending on who you ask. Though the last major Bubsy game was indeed Bubsy 3D, released in 1996, there were two additional games under different publishers and developers released as recently as 2019. Considering the 2017 and 2019 releases were somewhat less than well-received, it’s hard to blame anyone for wanting to sweep them under the rug.
Bubsy T. Bobcat himself seems pretty high on the new game, at least. “Get ready for the comeback you never saw coming,” he’s been quoted as saying. “It’s no secret that I’ve got a questionable track record, but Atari and Fabraz are determined to give me the game I’ve always deserved. This time, my claws are out and I’m ready to show off.”
Bubsy 4D is scheduled to release May 22, 2026 for Playstation 4&5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows and GOG. This time, surely, nothing could pawsibly go wrong.
