Would you like to know more? Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! Announced

Dotemu continues to prove that they have a vested interest in keeping the 90’s alive and well in the modern era, coming hot off the heels of their launch of Marvel Cosmic Invasion with the announcement of yet another classic IP in need of a modern retro revival: Starship Troopers. Yesterday, Dotemu released this reveal trailer, featuring General Johnny Rico as portrayed by Casper Van Dien from the films:

Dotemu continues their precedent of partnering with top-quality studios, tapping the developers of Warhammer 40k: Boltgun, Auroch Digital. What follows is a fast-paced, lead-pumping good time that looks like it was pulled right out of a Half-Life mod. The graphics have that PS1-era chunk to them, even as they’re clearly tended to with the latest of technology to really make that aesthetic shine.

Needless to say, what we’ve got so far from this release looks quite promising. Considering both Dotemu and Auroch’s previous track records with their games, it stands to reason that this one will also be a slapper, but we’ll have to wait until release to find out. Hopefully that wait won’t be long, as Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is scheduled for an ‘early 2026’ release on Nintendo Switch 2, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

Read on for additional info on the release, straight from the source Dotemu:

Set 25 years after the events of the original Starship Troopers film, this heroic campaign follows war veteran Samantha Dietz as she recounts her hunt for the dreadful Assassin Bug during the First Bug War. Relive her experiences as you annihilate the Arachnids on their familiar home world of Klendathu and journey to all new worlds like Planet P and beyond in this streamlined solo campaign, with access to a devastating arsenal of 14 weapons (including the iconic Morita rifle), 11 Tactical Supports and a Mech vehicle in a gloriously gory 3D pixelated combat simulation.

Citizens looking to prepare themselves to the fullest extent can utilize Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!’s anti-bug combat training, where you can play from the perspective of the Bugs, and prepare for the skills they need to erase the insectoid threat.
