The game is coming sooner than expected, but a follow up game will probably not have a disc.
Sony Santa Monica took to San Diego Comic Con to reveal some key details about their upcoming games. For starters, a quick little teaser was revealed that showcased the release date of God Of War: Laufey and it’s soon.
Revealed to be coming February 16th, 2027.
The developers behind the game also revealed that the game is lore based, meaning it will have impact on the follow up title which will indeed feature Kratos once again. But that’s about all they let slip of the follow up title. Based on development time we can at least assume the next game wont release until 2028, which means it will be one of the first Sony first party titles to not have a disc.
Rather or not it will be a PS6 title, or any further details, is up in the air.
Barlog, of Sony Santa Monica, did explain:
“Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next,” he explained. “Phranque has been around since the beginning. It’s interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing.”
This of course also comes on the heels of the God of War greek trilogy also being remade, so the studio is incredibly busy.
