You will get a chance to check out the upcoming Bungie game a little bit early.
Bungie announced during the PlayStation State of Play that players will get a chance to play the game during a “Server slam” weekend shortly before release. Taking place February 26th through March 2nd, the test is to help Bungie run their servers before the games release on March 5th.
Players that reach certain levels during the test will unlock gear for the release that will carry over which includes weapons, implants, and more to help on their first runs.

Marathon’s Server Slam is February 26 – March 2
Players worldwide can jump into Marathon during the open preview Server Slam on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from February 26, 2026 at 10 a.m. PT to March 2 at 10 a.m. PT*. Marathon’s Server Slam will also be a part of Steam Next Fest.
The Server Slam features an introduction to Marathon’s gameplay with a limited selection of maps, Runner shells, and contracts. Additional maps, factions, contracts, gear, and more to come at launch and during Season 1.
Players who complete the introductory mission during the Server Slam will earn a special emblem and banner for launch to commemorate the event.
We also want to recognize your time during the Server Slam, so players will be able to earn tiered gear packages for Marathon’s launch on March 5, which includes weapons, implants, and more to help on their first runs. More about the Server Slam and rewards here.
