MegaMan StarForce Legacy Collection is Fantastic | Review

Capcom has taken the beloved Mega Man Star Force series and released it in a legacy collection for our enjoyment, and people cannot say enough positive things about this release, myself included. We’re going to talk about what makes this collection so special and answer the question of whether you should add it to your collection.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection
Release date: March 26, 2026
Played on: PC via Steam
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, PC via Steam
Developer: Capcom

Given the age of the games, I don’t think we need to go over the story; instead, we will talk about what is included and the upgrades. The collection includes three versions of Star Force 1 ( Pegasus, Leo, and Dragon ), two versions of Star Force 2 ( Zerker x Ninja and Zerker x Saurian ), two versions of Star Force 3 ( Black Ace and Red Joker), as well as online multiplayer battles. The multiplayer mode is not cross-play compatible.

Along with bringing all three games, with their multiple versions, to one place, the games also include quality-of-life updates such as auto-saving, improved audio, optional high-resolution filters, adjustable enemy encounter rates, Mega Buster Mode for easier battles, and access to previously restricted and event-only battle cards.

Many longtime fans will appreciate that the game has kept its beautiful graphics, that the script from the original games was fully preserved, and, as mentioned before, that there have been audio improvements. The game is also fully controller-compatible for those who prefer to play with one.

One thing I will note is that with the updated graphics, I was not interested in the filters added to the games. I thought they hurt the experience more than enhanced it. The art is absolutely stunning as is. One feature I took advantage of was the ability to change the battle music. The gallery of options even includes some of the Battle Network music.

The only feature I was not a fan of was the multiplayer battles, as the game’s fanbase cannot all play together due to a lack of cross-play compatibility. I think this greatly limits the potential of multiplayer battles and players’ ability to find matches, depending on which platform they get the game on.

With all these enhancements, fans of these games, or even newcomers, should greatly enjoy the experience Capcom has released. It’s wonderful to see the beloved niche series get new life with this release. Definitely a must grab for anyone who is a fan of these games or has ever shown interest in them.
