Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Won’t Launch With Online Mode

It seems like Konami is letting you enjoy the single player experience, as the online component of Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta will launch without the online mode.

The main game is releasing late this month, on August 28th, and we can’t wait to play it. Perhaps being a story driven game makes this a little less painful, but the online portion of the game won’t be accompanying the the release.

The online mode, titled Fox Hunt, which was previously hinted at this summer will be delayed to “fall” of this year. The new mode is entirely unrelated to the previously successful MGO (Metal Gear Online) which released alongside MGS4. MGO lasted until 2012 when Konami shut down the servers, and seemingly abandoned AAA gaming all together shortly after.

Konami developers note that the new Fox Hunt mode is not simply just MGO reimagined, or another online multiplayer shooter. Instead the new mode takes the stealth and camo mechanics of the series, and makes extreme “hide and seek” gameplay. They note to not expect major shootouts like other online games, and more strategy. They also notate that while the component is running alongside Delta, it also “plays entirely different.”

But as suggested, the only details on a potential release is “fall,” so we look forward to playing sometime this year.
