Sony Reveals New Wireless Desktop Speakers

In an odd announcement, Sony decided to make desktop PlayStation speakers.

Outside of PlayStation, Sony is rather good at sound quality in an array of different devices. They make some of the best headphones and earbuds, and make some phenomenal home audio products too. When these products get the PlayStation branding though, the price goes up so it makes sense for them to brand some desktop speakers, I suppose.

That’s what they did though. During todays State of Play, Sony revealed both black and white versions of their new wireless desktop speakers. The speakers function with the PlayStation Link USB, which makes them compatible with the slim audio offerings of the PlayStation Portal.

The speakers are fully wireless which means you can take them on the go, for whatever reason, or move them about where you need them. Each speaker has a charging base that you rest them on to charge. They also have built in microphones with AI detection to cut out noise for clear voice chat.

Each speaker has Planar Magnetic drivers, with built in subs, and on PS5 will be capable of utilizing Tempest 3D. While the speakers will utilize PlayStation link for low latency audio, they are also compatible with blutooth for your phone, PC, and Mac gaming. (But remember the PS Portal for whatever reason can’t support that)

You can read more about them on the PlayStation Blog, but beyond a 2026 release window that’s about all we got. No price was suggested either.
