Todd Howard Confirms Elder Scrolls 6 Will Have More Trees Than Skyrim

You heard it here second, if you watched the video, Todd Howard finally gave us some detail about the upcoming game.

Okay it isn’t that big of a deal, but watching one of my favorite new series on Youtube I was surprised to see the man himself, Todd Howard, appear to confirm something totally random. The series is by Youtube Any Austin and he dives into details of games that you might otherwise overlook.

For example one of my favorite videos he did was discussing the power grid of Red Dead Redemption. In this video he laid out all the lines and showcased the detail Rockstar went into to incorporate them all over the map, and how they led them all back to a central power station to boot. Along this trip we learned more about the game, and how power lines and light poles worked in this time period in real life. It ended up not only being an interesting video, but somewhat educational and eye opening to see how incredible Rockstar is with detail in their world.

He went at it again for his last video of the year by diving into Skyrim to discover…. How many trees were in Skyrim. During his adventure of calculating this and discussing how real life trees are tracked, he had several guests appear to predict how many trees would end up being counted. Spoiler, the last guest he has on is none other than Todd Howard, you know, the guy from Bethesda that constantly teases us about Elder Scrolls, and well, directs the series.

Todd Howard not only appears to give his rather high estimate, but he also lets us have an idea of what to expect with Elder Scrolls 6, more trees. Yep. We can confirm that the Elder Scrolls 6 will see even more trees than the 46k we saw in Skyrim. Okay, before you go hunting me down, or take this detail and start writing theories about all the areas with more trees in the lore and where this game could potentially take place, it’s probably worth noting he most likely was joking.

Or maybe he wasn’t, because he did smile and answer that rather quickly….so let’s explore shall we? The biggest clue this gives is another exploration of Hammerfell, which was minorly explored in some DLC for Skyrim and ESO (Elder Scrolls Online. The thing is that Hammerfell is mostly sand on one side, but does have tropical areas that are rather dense with trees and a bunch of varied regions to explore. Hammerfell mostly fits with the idea that this game will be much larger than previous titles.

Another option is Valenwood, which is described as an “endless sea of green” in the lore, and is again minorly explored through ESO. There are a few fan made mods that let your explore this area, and it seems to bea fan favorite idea for the upcoming game. A third option is something even less explored which is Argonia, or Black Marsh. This area is kind of small, relatively as big as Marrowind, which means there would have to be a bit more to it. It’s also filled with swampland and not as known for dense forest, but we only got to explore a small bit of it in the first game.

It’s fun to explore if Todd Howard is ever hinting at anything. You could feel the anticipation and excitement he brought with him on the stage to the Game Awards this past week, and the disappointment that nothing came of it. So we will take whatever joke, comment, or smirk he has to lead us to any detail of the upcoming game. By my count we are up to 3 confirmed details at least!
