Gameloft hosted a live stream today to announce the next upcoming adventure of the cozy game, and we love it.
Winnie-the-Pooh is coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley on July 8th with the announcement of a new adventure pack for the game. The newly announced adventure pack is a more streamlined content update that focuses exclusively on one story. This pack is titled Honeyglow Woods and opens a whole biome dedicated to the pooh bear.
The adventure pack will come in at $16.99, slightly cheaper than the full stand alone expansion packs for the game. You can pick up bundle editions of the game that include the new pack, along with previously released expansion DLC’s on sale on your favorite digital store.
Honeyglow Woods opens a whole biome with three new characters, new areas to explore, and a new story to unfold. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Winnie, Piglet, Eeyore, and Pooh Bear himself will head to the Valley. Each character will have their own quest line, costume for your character, and unique biome areas with items. They each will get their own homes and be welcomed into the valley with their own social ranking, similar to other characters, and you’ll be able to place their homes wherever you’d like. This includes being able to place them in or outside the new adventure pack area. Scrooge and Remy will also have unique store skins for their locations that transport you from within the DLC.
To start the DLC you will have to place a new portal down in your valley, which consists of growing a new tree, then walk through it to enter the Honeyglow Woods.
And that’s not all. They also added a new mini-game called Pooh Sticks. You and several fellow villagers can meet on a bridge to throw items into the river and watch them race. Whatever items reach the finish line first wins.
You can also become a bee keeper in the new area by placing beehives which can mature and unlock additional features. The more mature and well maintained they are, the more honey they will produce. But they will also impact nearby flowers allowing them to grow and mature at a faster rate as well.
The adventure pack seems to be a smaller affordable bridge between major paid expansions. Another expansion is now planned to hit in October.
If paid DLC isn’t your thing, no worries, Gameloft also gave hints at upcoming free content updates. Their road map was updated to showcase 3 additional free content updates, and the first one will revolve around Wreck it Ralph, with Ralph entering the valley. Two further updates will hit in September and December.
Personally I’m pretty excited for the content update. Not only am I a huge Winnie-the-Pooh fan, but I’ve also been saying that content specific updates to the game would be welcoming. Instead of spreading thinly across multiple characters, diving deep into one specific world seems interesting, with a lot of gear and assets aimed at that specific story. Plus adding more cozy games within the valley is highly welcomed. I absolutely love Scrabblecoin, and having more things to simply do is such a highlight to me.
Plus the price. You’re getting a ton of content for $17, which is a good deal vs spending that amount of money on moonstones in the store. Finding ways to generate revenue for a game I love without asking me to do another 30-40 dollar expansion seems incredibly brilliant if they consistently go this in-depth with beloved characters.
