The latest Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping, keeps getting more and more shine as the star-studded cast continues to grow. This time, Lionsgate has announced a major role in the series with an equally-major up-and-coming young actor.
The role of the iconic Effie Trinket, as previously portrayed in the original series by the stunning Elizabeth Banks, will now be undertaken by Elle Fanning, of Super 8 and Maleficent fame. As this is a prequel to the original Hunger Games story, Sunrise on the Reaping’s take on Effie will be a younger one, displaying her time as Haymitch Abernathy’s stylist.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce.
