The latest footage for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has arrived, revealing oodles of iconic Mario characters and moments for fans to enjoy.
During a special Nintendo Direct this morning (focused entirely on the upcoming film), Illumination and Nintendo revealed the first look at Yoshi’s arrival in the Mario Bros Movie sequel…along with a whole bunch of other neat things:
Yeah, there’s a whole lot going on here. From Baby Mario & Luigi, to the return of Birdo, and some deep cuts like the return of Mouser! Add to that the obvious Super Mario Odyssey Easter eggs and it seems like there’s a WHOLE LOT going on in this film. Curiously, we don’t see any of the other Nintendo elements that popped up in the previous film (like the Kongs).
Maybe they’re used in a smaller capacity this time around, or perhaps the focus is much more on Mario and Luigi adventuring together this time. Hard to say as the trailer still doesn’t give us much info in terms of the story. Regardless the animation continues to look on point and I’m very much digging all the references.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 1, 2026.
