Sony Pictures has dropped the first trailer for their next Spider-Man spin-off film, Madame Web, teasing a time-hopping story and an evil Spider-Man?

Look, I’ve been on board the Madame Web hype train pretty much since the film was announced. I know the Sony Spidey spin-offs haven’t been “the best,” she’s a character I’ve long been fascinated with and have been eager to see on the big screen. This morning’s trailer brings our first look at the film, and some other Spider-heroes to the action:

While I wish the story were a little more straightforward in the trailer, I’m digging what they’ve shown. Visually it looks solid and well shot, and the quick glimpses we get of the heroes’ suits in action, gives me all the good feelings. Let’s hope this manages to stick the landing.

“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.

Madame Web is set to hit theaters on February 16, 2024.
