Stitch Appears to be a Puppet in First Set Photo from ‘Lilo and Stitch’ Remake

Disney might be taking the puppet/animatronic route with Stitch in the live-action Lilo and Stitch movie.

The first set photo from the live-action Lilo and Stitch movie has hit the Internet and to the surprise of many (including myself), Stitch appears to be taking the form of an animatronic puppet a la The Child from The Mandalorian.

You can see the image yourself below. In it, there’s a clear shot of Stitch with what appears to be a puppeteer manipulating his head:

After so many CGI heavy remakes, many assumed that Disney would render Stitch completely in CGI as well, so the idea that Stitch will be a “real” puppet being is an exciting one. I’d still like to see what Stitch looks like in action, but this image gives me hope that maybe this remake of Lilo and Stitch won’t be so bad.

What do you think of this first set photo for Lilo and Stitch?
