This movie must be something special, since Lionsgate is not done dropping major casting news about their latest movie in the Hunger Games franchise: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Glenn Close, the eight time Oscar nominee, has been cast as Drusilla Sickle, the cruel escort to the District 12 Tributes. There isn’t much that needs saying about Glenn Close that her accolades and box office history don’t say already. Along with those Oscar noms, Close has three Emmy Awards, three Tony Awards, and three Golden Globes under her belt, and is known for iconic film performances in Fatal Attraction, The Deliverance, Dangerous Liaisons, Guardians of the Galaxy, and 101 Dalmatians. She will also be seen in Rian Johnson’s next Benoit Blanc adventure, Wake Up Dead Man, a Knives Out mystery.

Magno Stift, who’s being played by the musical icon, Billy Porter, is Drusilla’s estranged husband is the Tributes’ uninspired designer. Porter is a three-time Tony Award winner himself, one of which also garnered him a Grammy Award with “Kinky Boots”. He’s also been granted the Isabelle Stevenson Award for his humanitarian efforts. He’s recently made his debut in the West end with “Cabaret,” playing the Emcee, and will soon be in London with his directorial debut of the play “This Bitter Earth” at Soho Theatre.
As far as star power goes, this revelation is going to be pretty hard to top! These are two extremely well-known presences in Hollywood, and with their addition, this absolutely stacked cast continues to pad its numbers. Who else could we see join this mega-talented cast? Is there anyone even left?
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce.
