The week was a little quieter following Gamescom and Destination D23, but there are still a few game and movie news bits you may have missed. Let’s recap!

‘Kingdom Come’ Audio Drama Adaptation Announced
Following this summer’s release of the audio adaptation of All-Star Superman—praised by IGN as “an emotional and powerful telling” with “top-tier full-cast narration”—DC and Penguin Random House Audio announce their next joint project, the upcoming audiobook production of Kingdom Come. The critically acclaimed 1996 limited comic book series from Mark Waid and Alex Ross is adapted for audiobook listeners by Dirk Maggs, whose lauded career spans from BBC radio dramas that changed the landscape of the industry to his own comic book audio adaptations. Maggs’s rendition of Kingdom Come will be brought to life with a cast of over thirty actors, supported by original music and sound effects.
“I’ve been adapting and directing multicast, award-winning audiobooks of iconic DC Comics Superman and Batman stories for more than three decades,” says Maggs, “but among them all, Kingdom Come was always the one that got away. At last, thanks to Penguin Random House Audio, I can tell Mark Waid’s epic story, with Alex Ross’s beautiful artwork brought alive through cinematic sound design combined with James Hannigan’s stirring orchestral score.”
In Kingdom Come, we see an alternate future where our heroes have retired, long since withdrawn from the public eye. Yet in their wake, crime is kept at bay by a group who is anything but heroic—whose take on justice renders them as immoral and dangerous as the criminals themselves. Unable to stand aside any longer, Superman and the Justice League return to the fight, reminding the world what justice truly means.

Glenn Wrage as Batman/Bruce Wayne

Peacock Sets Release Date for Final Season of ‘Bel-Air’
In season four of Peacock’s “Bel-Air,” Will tries to balance the fun and excitement of senior year with the expectations that have brought him to this moment. Carlton tests his own resolve as he deals with the fallout of some very big decisions that could threaten his future. Together, both boys will help each other through this pivotal time in their lives. An unexpected power shift will threaten the brotherhood between Phil and Geoffrey, whose loyalties to the Banks family will be tested. Viv struggles with reinventing herself as she looks at motherhood from a different perspective. It’s Ashley’s freshman year in high school and she’s working through a rebellious phase but quickly learns that the status quo may no longer serve her. Hilary goes on a journey of self-exploration.

The series features an ensemble cast that includes Jabari Banks as Will and a creative team that includes showrunner, executive producer, and writer Carla Banks Waddles and Cooper, who serves as executive producer and will direct the final two episodes of the series.

Mobile Discovery Tour Released for Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Ubisoft announced the Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad, a free mobile experience that immerses players in 9th-century Baghdad during the Abbasid Empire. The new app is available for free through the App Store and the Google Play Store and can also be used on any device through a web browser.
Using the recreation of Baghdad from Ubisoft’s video game Assassin’s Creed® Mirage, the Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad allows users to explore this lost city, a former capital for political, scientific, cultural, and commercial advances, through two different modes:
First, Access Codex provides players with carefully selected encyclopedic entries on the history, art, and culture of medieval Baghdad and the Abbasid Caliphate. Based on the Codex entries from History of Baghdad in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, players can interact with this content through the Augmented Reality features of the app and benefit from additional historical information for each element
Second, Explore Baghdad is a gamified, narrative-driven journey that takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Players are tasked to collect Codex entries through a series of minigames and 360° exploration.
Developed in partnership with Sugar Creative, one of the UK’s leading immersive technology companies, and with the support of the Welsh Government via Creative Wales, the team delivered an ambitious and accessible cultural experience that blends interactive storytelling with historical research.
For example, real-life artifacts of the period can be found in the app. The Ruby Lustre Bowl from the Arab World Institute Museum in Paris can be examined up close and in detail in AR within the Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad, thanks to a series of high-quality 3D scans taken by the museum.
Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad is out now and totally free!
