The Recap: Spider-Man 4, Star Wars, 28 Years Later, Trailers, and More

SDCC may be over, along with a new Nintendo Direct, but this week still brought plenty of news you may have missed from both gaming and film.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Releases in July 2026

Marvel dropped a little teaser trailer along with confirmation that Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4. Hollywood Reporter reports that Mark Ruffalo is also returning as Hulk and Jon Bernthal as Punisher, as well as Michael Mando in his role as Scorpion.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.

Holland shared a video to his social media platforms donning the iconic red and blue suit.

First Trailer for ‘The Lost Bus’

Today Apple Original Films unveiled the trailer and key art for its highly anticipated new feature, “The Lost Bus.” The thriller will celebrate its World Premiere as a Special Presentation at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events, “The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires, as a wayward school bus driver (Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award-winner America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno.

The Lost Bus will debut in select theaters on September 19, 2025, before premiering globally on Apple TV+ Friday, October 3, 2025.

First Trailer for ‘Eternity’

In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend eternity, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) is faced with the impossible choice between the man she spent her life with (Miles Teller) and her first love (Callum Turner), who died young and has waited decades for her to arrive.

Eternity hits theaters this November.

It has been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory. Still living in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amid the infected. The original film follows a former teenage getaway driver who is dragged back into her unsavory past when a previous employer offers her the chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend. “Eenie Meanie” is written and directed by Shawn Simmons and stars Samara Weaving as the titular character Edie, also known as Eenie Meanie. The film also stars Karl Glusman, Jermaine Fowler, Marshawn Lynch, Randall Park, with Steve Zahn and Andy Garcia. The producers are Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, and Marty Ewing.

Eenie Meanie releases on August 22nd exclusively on Hulu.

Official Trailer for ‘Twinless’

In Twinless, two young men meet in a twin support group and form an unlikely friendship. Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and Dennis (James Sweeney) both search for solace and an identity without their other halves and soon become inseparable outside the group. But when Roman meets Dennis’ ebullient co-worker, Marcie (Aisling Franciosi), all is revealed to be not what it seems, as each man harbors secrets that could unravel everything.

Twinless hits theaters on September 5th.

‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ Gets ‘Andor’ Themed Goodies and More

During a livestream earlier this week, the Star Wars: The Old Republic development team revealed new items inspired by the Disney+ series Andor and tons of quality-of-life updates coming in Game Update 7.7.1, “Flashpoint Resurgence.”

Galactic Season 9 Begins – “Flashpoint Resurgence”: Galactic Season 9 will begin at 7.7.1 launch and run for 26 weeks. Kai Zykken needs your help once more as a new version of Czerka Combat Enhancers needs to be tested. These new enhancers can be used upon entering Flashpoints and can provide two new buffs.

Galactic Season 9 Rewards: Claim new titles, collapsible and themed weapons, the Commandant’s and Ascendant Admiral Armor Sets, and five mounts.

Modernization of Character Creation and Design: As part of ongoing efforts to modernize many elements of the game, the character select screen has received improved lighting and a new Depth of Field update that keeps the focus on the player character. Plus, the face definition and texture smoothing that was implemented in Game Update 7.7 has been added to Rattataki, and hundreds of new hair and montreal color options have been added for Cathar, Chiss, Cyborg, Human, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta and Zabraks.

Andor-themed Items: A new hairstyle customization, head accessory, and outfit inspired by the Disney+ series Andor™, and an Imperial Scout Mount will be coming to the Cartel Market in 7.7.1. There will also be a unique companion customization reward inspired by Andor that can be used on companion droids 2V-R8 and C2-N2, acquired by redeeming a limited time log-in reward currency.

Quality-of-Life Improvements, Including for F2P: With this update, F2P/Preferred players will be able to access companion customizations, use Legacy titles, earn Rest XP, get the first Cargo Bay for free, use the Hide Head slot, withdraw more credits from Escrow when using Cartel Coins, and access all quickbars.

Coming Soon… The Next Story Arc: The developers are working hard to put the final touches on new storylines and share them with players as soon as possible. “Galactic Threads” is targeted for Game Update 7.8 with “Master’s Enigma” to follow in 7.8.1.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 7.7.1 is targeting release in late August.
