Amazon to Adapt Fantasy Series ‘The Empyrean’ into a TV Show

Amazon is working on a new fantasy TV series and they’ve chosen a popular book to adapt.

It was announced today that Amazon is adapting The Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros into a television series, starting with the first entry Fourth Wing. This book, the first in a planned series of five, released this past April and became a huge bestseller. The sequel, Iron Flame, is due in November 2023. It is speculated that each book in the series will receive its own separate adaptation.

For those not familiar, Fourth Wing is summarized as follows:

Fourth Wing introduces readers to the brutal world of Basgiath War College, where there is only one rule: Graduate or Die. Our 20-year-old protagonist, Violet Sorrengail, expected to live a quiet life among books and history. But she’s put on an entirely different path when her tough-as-talons general of a mother orders her to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. If the fire-breathing beasts don’t kill her, one of her fellow riders just might.

It’s also been announced that Michael B. Jordan will serve as an executive producer for the series alongside Yarros and Liz Pelletier.
