It’s been on the launch slate for quite some time, but the time has now come: the long-awaited Marvel Zombies project is going to be hitting the streamers very soon! Marvel Studios just dropped a brutal new teaser for the upcoming miniseries, which you can watch on YouTube or right here if you prefer, but let us warn you ahead of time – this one’s not for the faint of heart or stomach:
The series appears to be focused on existence in a post-apocalyptic take on the Marvel Universe, where many of the world’s heroes, including most of Earth’s Mightiest themselves, have become zombified. As was the case with the What If…? episode that first brought the concept to the MCU and the Robert Kirkman comic series that inspired it, though, Marvel Zombies retain the powers in undeath that they held in life. Even more impressive is how most of these heroes will also retain their original voices, as Marvel has tapped a slew of the live-action actors to reprise their roles, including Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, and Simu Liu, among many others.
The What If…? episode was met with mixed impressions, and it seems like Marvel has taken the criticisms to heart. They’ve ramped up the action, excitement, and (of course) violence, but not entirely at the cost of the sense of humor that Marvel is (sometimes infamously) known for. The showrunner, Zeb Wells, is a veteran comic writer who’s no stranger to controversial narrative decisions either, so if nothing else, we know there’s no telling where this series may go over its four-episode run time.
Marvel Zombies will be available for streaming on September 24, 2025, exclusively on Disney+.
