San Diego Comic Con kicked off its 2025 show on Thursday, July 24, setting the stage for an exciting weekend as it continues through Sunday, July 27. Star Wars dropped an exciting blog post on with some first looks at upcoming shows and to celebrate 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation.
Star Wars creator George Lucas will make his San Diego Comic-Con debut this weekend in Hall H with a panel on the Lucasum Museum of Narrative Art on Sunday.
“George Lucas always believed in animation and believed in our team,” Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni said in the blog post. “He said ‘Dare to be great,’ and that’s what we’ve done for the last 20 years. I hope we do it for 20 more.”
We got at the first official still from Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, which was revealed in April at Star Wars Celebration Japan. The show will be focusing on Maul, voiced by Sam Witwer,  as he builds/rebuilds his criminal syndicate following the end of the Clone Wars.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
The blog post also included a first look at Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) from Season 2 of Ahsoka, which is also expected to release in 2026. The new season is currently under production.

The blog post also includes a gallery of the Lucasfilm Animation – 20 Years @ SDCC 2025 exhibit for those of us at home who can’t visit the exhibit in person at the con.
