For a long time, the DC animated movies held more than their weight in the discussions over which ‘team’ was doing better in their respective adaptations. These days, James Gunn and the new DCU are turning the conversation around, but that doesn’t mean that the animated films have stopped bringing the heat, either.
Just today, Warner Bros. Animation at New York Comic Con announced that the next films in the DC animated milieu will be a multi-part series called Batman: Knightfall.
Based on the iconic comic run by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter Milligan, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balent, these movies will see the Dark Knight pushed to his breaking point as Bane frees his the worst of his Rogues Gallery from Arkham Asylum.
Batman: Knightfall will release the first film in the series, Part 1: Knightfall, sometime in 2026. The film is directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams.
