The First Trailer for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Takes Us Back to Middle-earth and Beyond

After several teases and character reveals, the first trailer is here for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is here and it looks amazing.

As the Super Bowl continues, the first official trailer has dropped for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and it appears so far to be everything fans of Tolkien have ever wanted. There are glimpses of beautiful cities, a variety of characters, battles, adventures galore, well, just look below and see for yourself!

As this is the first teaser trailer, most of the action was devoted to visuals as opposed to specific story details. A notable shot in the opening of the trailer shows a gorgeous Elven city that is likely Alqualonde on the coast of Valinor (Tirion, the capital city is inland and has no harbor). There are also a number of shots of Middle-earth itself as the text reminds us that all of this takes place before the King (Aragorn), before the Fellowship and before there were even any Rings (though not for long).

Galadriel features significantly in the trailer footage and it looks like she’s getting up to some major adventures. What really caught my attention with her is Galadriel appearing to be caught in a shipwreck and climbing what looks like a really tall mountain. I’m not sure of the context for the shipwreck, but I wonder if the mountain is one of the Pelori mountains that encircle Valinor? I’m also pondering what that fireball is that streaks across the sky, I’m wondering if it has something to do with how the rings are eventually forged.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power arrives on September 2, 2022 and I can’t wait for it!
