The first season of Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters garnered a fair bit of praise from critics and fans alike for its solid pacing, fun storytelling and fantastic casting, so people have been eagerly anticipating more from the team for its second season. If the initial teaser trailer was there to let us know that we had nothing to worry about when it came to quality, the most recent trailer has set any doubts securely to rest. The team at Legendary Television is pulling out all the stops for season 2, including the return of a couple of fan favorites that almost needs no introduction. Just watch the trailer:
That’s right: Whereas the first season of Legacy of Monsters dealt with a plethora of kaiju across the planet, the story of the second season appears to much more focused, tying in much more closely with the events of the movies, going so far to even include the heaviest hitters in the whole franchise: King Kong and the Big G himself. If that wasn’t hype enough, the show, which was praised for its new kaiju designs in season 1, has come up with a huge and fascinating-looking new threat that serves to stand in opposition to the World’s Largest Odd Couple.
The hits aren’t done yet, even: During the Apple TV Press Day event where this trailer was unveiled, Legendary Television also announced multiple new series set in the same Legendary Monsterverse, including an as-of-yet untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel starring Wyatt Russell. Be sure to let your friends with the monster madness know, they won’t run out of ways to feed their addiction any time soon!
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 begins on Friday, February 27, 2026, with weekly episodes all the way up to May 1, 2026.
