There are already a few hits on Apple TV that hardly need to be mentioned, but when it comes to good shows on the platform that may have flown under the radar, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters deserves a mention. The first season was an incredibly entertaining romp that did a great job of linking to the Legendary “Monsterverse” (I know) movies without feeling like required viewing. And now, there’s going to be even more, as Apple TV has just unveiled a new preview for the second season of the show with a certain fan favorite primate to boot:
According to the released presser, season two of the series “reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.” It also touches on the way the actions of the past have effects on the modern day, a common theme throughout the first season of the show, which drifted between the 1950’s and now through the dual perspectives of Army officer Lee Shaw as both an old and a young man(played by father/son duo of Kurt and Wyatt Russell, respectively). Wyatt has also been confirmed to return for the second season, which suggests that this twin-timeline framing devices will continue to be utilized as well.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two premiere’s globally on Friday, February 27, 2026 with its first episode, releasing one every Friday thereafter until the finale on May 1, 2026. The show stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm. The showrunner for season two is Chris Black.
