Amazon Games Takes Players On a Deep Dive Into Their Upcoming MMORPG ‘New World’

Summer Game Fest is in full swing, and with it comes a deep dive video into Amazon Games‘ uber-ambitious MMORPG, New World. More within.

It’s been more than a year since the public has seen any update on Amazon GamesMMORPG New World. Last year, the game was supposed to release in May, but was hit with delays while the development team worked hard to bring their full vision to life.

Today, as part of Summer Game Fest, the Amazon Games development team opened the doors to their studios to show everyone everything Aeternum has to offer. This deep dive video showcases environments, quests, villains, weapons, a Q&A between Scot Lame and Geoff Keighley, and a lot more.

Overall, I liked what I saw from New World. It seems to have some interesting concepts behind it and it looks to have some intriguing lore behind certain places and villains. Speaking of villains, though, it seemed a bit odd that the only villains of this game were women. It’s important for games to have proper representation and highlighting/creating powerful female characters is a huge part of that, but what does it say when every force of evil in this game is a woman?

In addition to the New World Deep Dive, Amazon Games announced that they will be hosting a Closed Beta on July 20. Players who pre-order New World will automatically gain access to the Closed Beta. New World will launch on PC on August 31, 2021.
