Final Fantasy 16 DLC Shadow Drops Today, Additional Content Coming Soon

During the Game Awards 2023, Square Enix showed off a new trailer for the DLC coming to Final Fantasy XVI, and you can pick up one of them right now.

Check out the trailer:

The DLC was hinted at earlier this year, but it is nice to finally have it confirmed. It’s even nicer than the first DLC is already available today on PS5.

“Echoes of the Fallen” unlocks new story, battles, weapons, accessories, level cap and more. The adventure begins before the base game’s final battle, as strange, dark crystals begin to circulate on the black market. Players will follow Clive and company during their investigations as they encounter a group of suspicious traders, leading them to a long-abandoned Fallen tower known as the Sagespire and the terrible secrets that await within.

Special bonus items for purchasing “Echoes of the Fallen” or the Expansion Pass include the Buster Sword, allowing Clive to wield Cloud Strife’s iconic weapon from FINAL FANTASY VII, and the “Away (1987)” Orchestrion Roll which allows a chip-tune version of the song “Away” to be played as background music in the hideaway.

Echoes of the Fallen is the first DLC released today and takes place shortly before the games original story. Earlier reports of the DLC note that the expansions will have no effect on the games ending, and probably won’t explore much beyond that ending.
