Updates on two of Square Enix’s most sought-after titles could be on their way very soon, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 and Final Fantasy XVI.
During a Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier livestream, Director Tetsuya Nomura shared the news that “Square Enix will make an announcement regarding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII next month.”
While that could mean anything, it is possible that FFVII Remake Part 2 is part of the June announcement. After all, Square Enix has publicly stated that they want to reveal details on the sequel during its anniversary year.
Details surrounding the Remake sequel have been sparse, but Nomura did also say that Remake 2 would take more advantage of the PS5’s capabilities than last year’s Final Fantasy VII Remake re-release, Intergrade, did.
In addition to potential new Remake 2 details, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naomi Yoshida has revealed that a new trailer for the highly-anticipated game is set to release very soon.
2022 marks 25 years of Final Fantasy VII and 35 years of the series, as a whole. With those anniversaries in mind, Square Enix and the powers behind the Final Fantasy games have made it clear they want to take full advantage of milestones. The publisher has even gone out to say that while they do have many games to release this year, their plans are centered around celebrating these anniversaries. Releasing news for these two games would do just that.
Square Enix has launched a Final Fantasy 35th anniversary site, which is teasing that news of future games is on the way: “In this 35th anniversary year, we will be bringing you many exciting new ways to enjoy the worlds of Final Fantasy.”
