Metro Awakening Heading To PSVR2

Check out the trailer for the upcoming PSVR2 game.

The team has been working on the project for the past 2 and half years, with licensing from Deep Silver to bring the Metro franchise to PSVR2.

The game is set before Metro 2033, as will be told as an origin stories to the franchise.

Set in 2028, the all-new story is penned by series creator Dmitry Glukhovsky. You play as Serdar, a doctor searching for his wife amongst the claustrophobic, irradiated metro tunnels of post-apocalyptic Moscow. As Serdar ventures deeper into the Metro his courage and sanity will be tested by the supernatural forces he encounters, and will set in motion the events that lead to his spiritual awakening as something else entirely…

Interestingly the game is utilizing the PSVR2 new features such as the sense controller triggers, and the headsets rumble feature, to elevate the horrors of the game. It also mentions physically reloading weapons, and fumbling with filters in tense situations.

Metro Awakening stays true to the series’ hallmark storytelling, with an all-new standalone narrative and original concept penned by Dmitry Glukhovsky which serves as a prequel to the beloved Metro 2033. You assume the role of Serdar, a doctor on a quest to reunite with his wife by traveling through the mutant-ridden tunnels beneath a post-apocalyptic Moscow. As Serdar, you will navigate a complex storyline that tests beliefs in the rational and tempts you to embrace the awakening of the being you are destined to become. In addition, development continues separately at 4A Games on the next mainline installment of the Metro series.

Luckily, unlike a majority of the other games today at the State of Play, it has a general release date of 2024. So we will get to try it out later this year!
