Overwatch Now Charging 15 Dollars For Story Missions

The game that keeps on giving, get ready to open your wallets yet again.

You can call me frustrated, you can call the whole fanbase frustrated, but Blizzard doesn’t seem to get the problem. Recently Blizzard apologized for canceling the one reason Overwatch 2 even exists, PvE story missions. And now following that apology you need to pay extra for the stripped down content.

Via the Overwatch Blog, the new season content was announced and coming with it is the first PvE event for Overwatch 2. The season begins in August and has your typical Battle Pass with overpriced Legendary Skins, but in order to have full access to PvE you’ll need to spend an additional 15 dollars.

The Invasion Bundle includes “permanent access” to PvE, 1k OW Coins, and the Sojourn Legendary skin. If you want to spend a little more, the Ultimate Bundle is 40 dollars and includes the PvE bundle along with another 1k coins, 20 Battle Pass tier skips, and 2 Legendary skins, one for Cassidy and Kiriko. These coins can be used to buy the Battle Pass, or other items in the shop, unlike the nearly identical coins you earn in the Season Pass that are almost entirely useless.

The bundle only grants access to the story missions, which during this season only includes 3 missions. However making matters worse it’s unclear if these missions will be available for free on a rotating schedule, or if your entire squad needs to buy the access to join you when the missions are not available. Being Overwatch 2, it wouldn’t be shocking if every person on your team needs to buy access….

The fanbase has been extremely loud about these decisions and it just seems to be getting worse with every season. What was once my favorite game now doesn’t even remain installed anymore.
