It’s official y’all. The start of September. The beginning of the stretch of months that end in -ber (while we’re begging to be feeling a little bit of ‘brr’). That means the holiday game release schedule (aka avalanche) is about to begin after a busy summer.
We’ve got the massive launch of Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1, and Payday 3. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask drops this month, alongside a slate of DLC including the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Farming Simulator 22: Oxbo Pack, and more.

Baldur’s Gate III is dropping on PS5 and expanding its viral reach (seriously, half my Steam friends list are playing as I write), and there are a handful of titles I recommend taking a look at if they’ve flown under your radar including Party Animals, Gloomhaven, Paleo Pines, and Enchanted Portals.
Sports game fans get to enjoy the start of football season (with basketball not far on the horizon) with the releases NBA 2K24, EA Sports FC 24, and Rugby 24.
