The Last of Us Remake Is Launching in September

After plenty of rumors, The Last of Us remake for PlayStation 5 is officially a real thing and set to launch this September.

[Update: The official announcement trailer has been released. Yes it looks amazing.

Original report follows below.]

A little bit of an oops this morning on PlayStation’s own website seemed to inadvertently confirm The Last of Us remake, which is officially titled, The Last of Us Part I. It stands to reason it was set to be one of the announcement trailers shown during this afternoon’s Summer Game Fest.

The remake is built from the ground-up for the PlayStation 5 as the store page explains: “Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.

Even better, there’s a release date we can mark down as well. The Last of Us Part I is set to release on September 2, 2022. While some people question the reasoning of giving a game that’s not quite a decade old yet a remake, I’m more than ready to be hurt again.

We’ll be sure to update here when the trailer is officially released.
