LEGO Reveals Massive New Star Wars Death Star Set

LEGO has pulled the curtain back on the largest LEGO Star Wars set to date, giving fans a new take on the iconic Death Star.

While it leaked out the other week, LEGO has officially announced all the details for the new Ultimate Collector Series Death Star. Unlike previous models it’s not a giant sphere, but rather presented like a cutaway profile…yet still manages to come in at a WHOPPING 9,000 pieces.

Personally, I love this approach much better than the old one (which I have). The old sphere model is insanely cool, don’t get me wrong, but displaying it is very difficult. With this new style, it can fit flush against the wall, allowing for more display options, while still bringing the epic scale to fans (a little over 20 inches tall).

From Star Wars: A New Hope™ to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™, this collectible set recreates some of the most legendary moments in cinematic history. Fans can build and explore detailed brick recreations of the trash compactor, Emperor Palpatine’s throne room, Princess Leia’s cell, the tractor beam control unit, the Imperial shuttle hangar, and much more. With a compact foundation and layered vertical structure, this model delivers depth and complexity while remaining impressively displayable.

This epic build includes an incredible 38 LEGO Star Wars minifigures, with iconic characters such as Luke Skywalker (in both Jedi and stormtrooper variants), Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and two LEGO Star Wars droid figures. As a playful nod to the LEGO Star Wars video games, the set also includes a stormtrooper minifigure in a hot tub.

Whether you’re re-enacting the lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, swinging across the retractable bridge with Luke and Leia, or simply admiring the architectural power of the Death Star, this set is a must-have for Star Wars collectors.

The LEGO Star Wars Death Star Ultimate Collector Series building set comes in right at $1,000 and will be available to LEGO Insiders starting October 1st on the official website. October 4th is when EVERYONE will have the chance to pick it up both in LEGO stores and online.

In addition, shoppers who purchase the set, between October 1 – 7th will receive the LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack (40771) as a gift while supplies last.
